In History this term we are learning about the Ancient Egyptians and how they lived. The Ancient Egyptian people were creative and inventive in their use of tools to irrigate their land. This week we have been learning about one of their tools used for irrigation, the Shaduf, shown below. The boys have also had the opportunity to create their own shaduf – on a slightly smaller scale! Take a look at their presentations by clicking on the videos below:
In Geography this term, Year 3 have been learning about maps and how they are made. Here are some examples of the boys’ work. Watch the videos and leave a comment on their presentations!

The boys certainly enjoyed themselves at the National Chess Semi-Finals in Prestatyn last weekend, 20-22 May. Boys in 4S representing the school included Ben Peirce, Will Spencer, Aryan Fakey, Ronnie Kothari and Patrick Gaudart-Wifling. We were accompanied by some very supportive and helpful parents.
Aside from chess, we had a barbeque where Mr Shaw tried desperately not to burn the burgers and sausages, with varying degrees of success. Plenty of beach cricket was also played, with Mr Shaw having the tough job of umpiring a highly competitive match.
Amidst all the optional SATs activity this week, the boys in the Tchaikovsky English group have been looking at the features of playscripts. We analysed the first Scene from Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ and acted it out, complete with visual and sound effects. The videos from each group can be viewed below.
We hope you enjoy watching these videos as much as we enjoyed making them. I am sure you will agree that the CGI special effects are state of the art.
The classroom belonging to 4S this year, J4, is not only used for learning English and Maths. Wednesday lunchtimes this term it has been turned into a hive of creativity for our Warhammer & Airfix modelling club. The boys have done an excellent job of gluing models together, painting them, and creating scenery to be used in our battles.
Take a look at some of these photos to see what we have been up to!
